The Why

The title speaks for itself, but here's a little background on me. For 19 years, I have averaged about 4-6 Diet Cokes a day...I'm not exaggerating. It's scary to think I've been putting this poison in my body for this long. I used to think it didn't matter...I know now that I was wrong...artificial sweeteners are all sorts of bad...pink, blue, and even yellow...did you know that Splenda has chlorine in it? Yikes! These little packets are linked to mood swings, migraines, cancer, sleep disorders, organ damage, and much more...I've been free of artificial sweeteners for two months, and I feel better than I ever have...I never thought I would say this, but me and Diet Coke...we're over...for good. I want to be my healthiest me, and a Diet Coke addict is not the way to do it! So what do I drink? I only drink things that are naturally sweetened (absolutely NO sugar and no artificial sweeteners!)

I drink a lot of this:
Peach Mandarin Vitamin Water has 1 Carb per Serving and Zero Grams of Sugar...it is sweetened with Stevia, a natural sweetener...I love it...and you can buy in bulk at Costco!
and this...SOBE Lifewater Zero...also in bulk at Costco

and this...Zevia Soda...has a net 0 Carbs and zero grams of sugar...sweetened with Stevia...my favorite flavors are Root Beer and Dr. Zevia...you can find this at Whole Foods, Mother's Market, or online here.

and of course this! with a little heavy cream and 2 stevia packets and sometimes a shot of Redi Whip...0 carbs and 0 sugar! Yummy!

The Resources...

Throughout this journey, I'll be focusing on three main resources to get me through...

To get me off of artificial sweeteners, hidden sugar, and processed carbs, I'll be relying on this book...Jorge Cruise's The Belly Fat Cure. I'll post more on this later today...Jorge makes a great case for getting off of the sugar!

My second resource is Juice Plus+. These little capsules are filled with tens of thousands of phytonutrients all working together to make me the healthiest me possible...more on JP+ later. :)
Finally, I'll be using a half marathon training schedule to get me to my goal...breaking 2 hours!

Wish me luck!
